How to clean your glass shower

How often should you clean your glass shower door?

A glass shower door requires regular maintenance so you should give it a weekly in-depth wash, but cleaning it with a squeegee after every shower can make the deep cleans at the end of the week easier, as it will lessen the water spot and soap scum buildup.

How to clean glass shower doors

Materials needed for in-depth clean:

  • Distilled white vinegar
  • Warm water
  • Dishwashing liquid
  • Sponge/squeegee
  • Microfiber cloth

Instructions:

  1. Add equal parts distilled white vinegar and warm water into a spray bottle.
  2. Pour one tablespoon of dishwashing liquid into the spray bottle
  3. Spray the solution onto your shower glass and let it sit for about 15 minutes
  4. After 15 minutes use the microfiber cloth to wipe down the glass. For heavier build-up scrub with an eraser-like sponge or a delicate scrubber.
  5. Finish off with rinsing the glass and buff drying it

How to remove soap scum

For removing soap scum, use the vinegar and water solution previously used or use a DIY solution combining baking soda and water to form a paste. Using a magic eraser can also help with the harder to clean spots.

How to remove hard water stains

As water dries, chalky white stains are left behind from water that contains hard minerals like calcium and magnesium. The way to clean these water stains, is to use the same solution as the one mentioned above. If they aren’t cleaned frequently, they can become permanent and ruin the sparkle of your glass shower doors.
